Intro to Digital Marketing

This Tuesday  night November 18, I’ll be at Polygon, leading a 2-hour class for General Assembly Atlanta called Intro to Digital Marketing.  There are already more than 60 attendees registered for this free event, and there will be free food and beverages, so I hope you’ll join us as well.  Register here. This one-night session is an introduction to GA’s new part-time Digital Marketing class, which will begin January 27th, 2015 and continue two nights per week until March 9th.  The class will be one of the first classes to take place in GA’s brand-spanking-new facility at Ponce City Market.

The full 10-week, 60 hour course will meet every Tuesday & Thursday evenings 6:30 – 9:30pm from January 27 to March 9 and cover the following high level topics:

  1. Marketing Fundamentals – get your audience into and moving down the marketing funnel
  2. Marketing Analytics – measure and predict response to your marketing tactics
  3. Site & Content – optimize your site and your content to attract the largest and best audiences
  4. User Acquisition Marketing – advertising on Twitter, Facebook, etc.
  5. Final Presentation – show your work by creating an end-to-end digital marketing plan

What I like most about this class from GA is that the students will be learning by doing, not just listening to instructor lectures.  GA’s approach to teaching front end and back end code, in which students learn by writing code, is the basis for the learning experience in Digital Marketing. You’ll learn how to do by doing it.  At the end of the class, students will have prepared an end-to-end digital marketing plan, and will also have taken a web property (blog, micro-site, or e-commerce site) from nothing through 10 weeks of active digital marketing, and measured the results.

The fundamental idea behind classes like this one is that people need to have marketable skills, meaning they’ve actually used Google Analytics, Hootsuite, SEO tools, Facebook & Twitter ads and analytics to market a specific web property.

I hope you and a friend will join us at Polygon from 6:30 – 8:30 Tuesday night to learn more about GA’s Digital Marketing Class.  To sign up, click here.
