MeetEdgar: A Simple Method of Creating and Sharing Great Content

At the end of last year, I did a little experiment on social media. I had noticed a lot of the people that I follow on social media make great use of quoting other people. Sometimes they use just text and sometimes they create a catchy image with the text of the quote on it. I love reading great quotes from people I admire, so I thought I’d give it a go. Below is one of my favorite quotes, though it’s totally fictional. Following is my process for creating a lot of cool content to keep your social media followers engaged, or at least informed or entertained, using MeetEdgar.

Collect Quotes

I Googled “famous Yogi Berra quotes”, and found several hundred really good ones, mostly from other peoples’ blog posts about “famous Yogi Berra quotes”, which made it really easy. Then I copied each quote, and then pasted them into a spreadsheet, making sure I put double quotes around each, and ended the text with ” – Yogi Berra”.

Load ’em Up

I’ve mentioned before that I use MeetEdgar to recycle and re-share lots of content from blog posts. I also used Edgar for this exercise. Specifically, I use the “import new content” function within Edgar. Here’s how it works.

  1. In your content spreadsheet, add a column, and enter a content category name. I use “Funny / Inspirational”
  2. Login to your account
  3. Go to on “Library” at the top left
  4. Click on “Bulk Actions” at the top right of the Content Library page
  5. Select “Import from .CSV”
  6. Save the aforementioned spreadsheet (I use Google Sheets) as a .csv file
  7. From Edgar, choose to import your .csv file
  8. Click “IMPORT”

Assign Content to Accounts

The result will be a list of all these individual quotes on a page. That’s the easy part. Now you have to assign each of these pieces of content to one or more of your social media accounts. I have 25 different social media identities in my Meet Edgar account, so the UI there is a bit overwhelming. You have to mouse-over your account icons and select the ones that you want this content to go into. I choose my personal Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin accounts.

Edgar has made a huge improvement to this page (Kudos!). You used to have to go through and click on your accounts for each and every piece of content you imported. Now you just select all your content and choose the accounts one time. Huge improvement.

Schedule in Meet Edgar

All that’s left is for you to set a schedule for this category of content in MeetEdgar. To do that, click on “Schedules” at the top, and create a new schedule for this category matched with your specific accounts. So, for my example, I select my Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin accounts for the “Funny / Inspirational” category. The schedule I use is one of these types of posts per day, first thing in the morning.
