introducing Pitchyards

Switchyards Downtown Club is excited to announce the launch of Pitchyards, a monthly meetup to practice your 30-second or five-minute startup pitch, brought to you by the good folks at Tenrocket. The meetup is run in collaboration with Kevin Sandlin’s Pitch Practice (hosted weekly at Atlanta Tech Village), which now features it’s very own podcast . Like most events at Switchyards, we’re putting our own unique spin on the event by focusing on consumer products and encouraging feedback from our awesome community of makers.

Prior to moving to Switchyards in March, Tenrocket sponsored Pitch Practice and witnessed firsthand how entrepreneurs would transform from nervous wrecks into confident, articulate presenters. Chris Turner launched Tenrocket at Pitch Practice more than two years ago and landed his first client that same day:

“Tenrocket might not be here today without Pitch Practice, so we’re thrilled to bring this amazing event to Switchyards and further empower consumer startups in Atlanta.”

Like Pitch Practice, Pitchyards will help startup founders to better articulate their products and services by providing a reliable framework and candid feedback. While entrepreneurs may pitch in 30-second and five-minute formats, Tenrocket emphasizes that participating is more important than perfecting.

“We’ve heard more than 300 pitches in the last two years. Only a handful of founders stand out, and those are the ones who practice regularly, welcome candid feedback, and keep an open mind.”, said Turner.

The first Pitchyards is open to the startup community and will be held in the Switchyards Board Room on Friday, August 26th at 1:00 pm, and will continue thereafter on the last Friday of the month at the same time and place.
