A month ago yesterday, we added a simple functionality to Atlanta Tech Blogs that allows anyone to submit content to be posted and shared via Atlanta Tech Blogs’ growing web, social, and email audiences. During that time, 52 items were shared. We did not publish any user submitted posts (USPs) over any of the weekends during that period, so we averaged 2.6 USPs per day, which is less than 10% of the total published links for that time period.
The subject matter of these USPs included the following:
- Press releases
- Job postings
- 3rd party Press coverage
- LinkedIn blog posts
- Event announcements
Here’s a simple list of all those links. And that’s all they are is links. You submitted the title and the landing page URL, and we published and shared that info to the atlantatechblogs.com home page, social networks (99% twitter), and Daily Digest email subscribers.
During that same time period (30 days), our Twitter followers and email subscribers both increased by more than 10%. I haven’t yet determined if there’s a direct relationship between those events, but will find out this month as we add more specific tagging and intelligence to those posts on the back end. We’ll also be able to tell the volume of impressions and clicks these USPs received from the home page, daily email, and social networks.
Stay tuned for more experiment reports. In the meantime, if you have something to share (that’s not already on your blog), please share it here to our entire audience.
